Sundance Natural Light: UVA-B light explained
In nature, horses are exposed to sunlight all day. This does not apply to our horses they go outside with a blanket against stinging flies. Sunlight exposure is very important for our horses, especially in the winter when they are stabled all day. Our horses are significantly deficient in vitamin D3 because of this we have spent a lot of time trying to find a solution for this. UVA-B light is this solution.
The effect of UVA-B light
Ultraviolet light gives (in the right frequency and in combination with Infrared), a feeling of being in the sun. you and your horse together in the sun while it is bleak and cold outside. The pituitary gland in the brains of humans and animals reacts immediately and starts producing a hormone that gives you and your horse that nice spring feeling.
Once again there are parallels between humans and animals and that is about Vitamin D3. Its deficiency is coming more and more under the spotlight and this is especially true for animals that cannot be outside in the sun enough. Research has shown that vitamin D3 deficiency causes a wide range of complaints, including: high blood pressure, osteoporosis, decreased resistance, feelings of fatigue, lethargy, stress, and many other issues.
The right dosage
We have kept the degree of UVA-B light low so that humans and horses can take advantage of it every day. UVA-B light is equivalent to sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere during February and March. Man and animal therefore do not need protective glasses and burning of the skin due to overdose is also not possible. Furthermore, we refer to our special dryer with UVA-B light for legs and belly research has shown that a wet belly can possibly be related to the development of colic. By drying the legs properly and the influence of UVA-B light, MOK does not get nutrition soil to thrive.
